With this verse The great Poet Giovanni Pascoli
celebrate his land, Romagna, expressing all together
in the same poem either the strong and happy character
and the fascinating of its towns. He was born In
San Mauro di Romagna in 1885, 4th of 8 sons, in
an well breed family. He lived an happy childhood
up to the age of 12 when his father was murdered
for political reason in a tram (he was deeply wounded
from this grieve, influencing his poetry too) it
is the starting point of a long series of misfortunes
and family grieves which will cause him a long period
of economical problem. he attended the university
of Bologna where he got in touch with the anarchic
and socialist ideas which cause him to be subdued
by imprisonment. His friendship with Giosue’
Carducci was of great help to him who sustained
him during his studies and his work as a University
teacher. He become famous as a poet thanks to his
first edition of Myricae (1891) and as Professor
he took Carducci Place as teacher of Italian Literature
at the University of Bologna. He use to travel all
along Italy until he got to Castelvechio di Barga
where he died the 6th of April 1912
